Preguntas frecuentes

  • High school games under NFHS rules require NFHS-certified baseballs. The NFHS stamp indicates the ball meets the performance specifications set by the National Federation of State High School Associations. Some states add additional requirements beyond the basic NFHS stamp. Check your state's athletic association rulebook for the full approved ball list.

  • Little League Baseball specifies official Little League or USA Baseball approved balls for game play. The size is a standard 9-inch ball in all divisions above tee-ball. Check the Little League rulebook for the exact approved ball list for your division, as requirements can change between seasons.

  • USSSA baseball games use USSSA-stamped baseballs that meet the organization's performance standards. The USSSA stamp on the ball indicates it is approved for USSSA-sanctioned events. Not all 9-inch baseballs carry the USSSA stamp, so confirm with your tournament director what is required at each event.

  • Leather-cover baseballs are the standard for competitive game use at high school level and above. They provide better pitcher grip, more consistent seam feel, and a traditional performance profile. Synthetic-cover balls are more durable in wet conditions, resist scuffing better, and cost less, making them practical for practice and recreational play.

  • Training baseballs are built for specific drill work including pitching machine use, soft toss, batting cage repetitions, and fielding drills. They are more durable than game balls under repeated mechanical impact and cost less to replace. Polyurethane training balls and dimple balls are machine-safe. Leather practice balls are generally not recommended for pitching machine use, as they wear out the machine's wheel system faster.

  • Collectible baseballs are display-quality balls used for autographs, commemorative editions, and gifts. They are not built for game use. They typically use a higher-quality leather cover and a clean white finish optimized for signing rather than performance specs. We carry display cases and signature models from Rawlings and other manufacturers.

  • A typical varsity schedule of 25 to 30 games uses 8 to 15 dozen game balls per season, depending on game length and the umpire's tendency to replace balls after every contact. Most programs also keep four to six dozen practice balls for weekday workouts. Buying in case quantities at the start of the season reduces the per-ball cost significantly.

  • Leather-cover balls stored in extreme heat, direct sunlight, or high humidity can dry out, crack, or absorb moisture that changes the feel and weight. Store game balls in a cool, dry location in their original packaging. Balls stored in a humid dugout or garage over a winter season should be inspected before use.

  • NFHS balls are full-grain leather-cover balls that meet specific COR, compression, and weight standards required for sanctioned high school competition. Recreational balls typically use a synthetic or lower-grade leather cover with less consistent performance specs. Recreational balls are suitable for practice and pickup games but are not approved for sanctioned high school or travel competition.

  • Standard baseballs for players age 13 and up in most organizations are 9 inches in circumference and weigh 5 to 5.25 ounces. Tee-ball and some younger youth divisions use a softer, lighter ball that may be slightly different in size depending on the organization. Confirm with your league before purchasing for very young players.

  • Only in specific drill contexts. Some youth programs use rubber-core or foam softballs for indoor safety drills, but standard 12-inch softballs are not appropriate for baseball batting or pitching mechanics training. The different size and weight produce incorrect feedback at the plate and on the mound.

  • Reduced-injury or safety baseballs have a softer center and cover that reduce the impact force on direct contact with a player's body. They are primarily used in younger youth leagues (tee-ball and coach-pitch) where player safety is prioritized over performance consistency. They are not approved for competitive sanctioned play in most organizations.

  • We carry Rawlings, Champro, Worth, and other manufacturers. Game ball availability by certification type varies by season. Contact us for current stock on specific certification types for bulk orders.

  • Yes. We sell baseballs by the dozen and by the case. Contact us for league and bulk pricing on large-quantity orders.

  • Standard baseballs are 9 to 9.25 inches in circumference. Some pitching machine practice balls and reduced-injury balls come in slightly different sizes. For any sanctioned competition, confirm the specific size and weight requirements with your league or tournament before purchasing.
