  • Details

The Champro Sock-Style Screen (NB177) is a training and protective screen with an integrated ball collection system built for coaches and programs at every level of baseball and softball who want to maintain smooth, uninterrupted training flow during fielding drills, throwing sessions, and batting practice without stopping to retrieve and collect balls between every rep -- in a lighter-weight, non-batting-cage configuration than the heavier BRUTE Sock-Screen. The 54-inch sock catches batted and thrown balls and channels them into a deep collection pocket, the sock opens to dump the collected balls directly into a bucket or ball bag, and the durable 1.5-inch, 18-gauge steel tube frame with 45-ply envelope-style PE net delivers reliable protective and containment performance for on-field practice applications. Not intended for use in a batting cage. Available at SPC Sports.

The 54-inch sock is the defining feature of the NB177 -- rather than letting balls scatter across the field after contact with the screen, the sock catches and funnels every batted or thrown ball into a single deep collection pocket attached to the frame, dramatically reducing the time spent chasing down loose balls between sets and keeping training sessions moving at a faster, more continuous pace during on-field practice.

The sock opens for quick dumping into a bucket or ball bag, so coaches and players can empty an entire collection pocket's worth of balls in seconds rather than picking up and collecting balls individually one at a time -- a meaningful time savings during high-repetition fielding drill and throwing sessions where balls accumulate quickly across dozens of reps.

The durable 1.5-inch, 18-gauge steel tube frame provides a sturdy structure that absorbs the repeated impact of batted balls and thrown returns through on-field practice sessions, maintaining its position and shape without tipping, shifting, or losing structural integrity across a full season of regular field use.

The 45-ply envelope-style PE net is engineered to withstand outdoor use across a full season of on-field practice without degrading, fraying, or losing its containment performance, with the envelope-style wrap maintaining even net tension across the screen surface so balls are caught and contained reliably rather than developing loose zones.

Easy pushpin assembly makes the NB177 fast to set up and break down between practice sessions, so coaches and players can deploy the screen and its attached collection sock at the start of on-field practice and pack it away at the end without complicated assembly procedures that interrupt training flow.

This screen is not intended for use in a batting cage -- the 18-gauge frame construction and 45-ply net are designed specifically for on-field practice applications rather than the higher-velocity, confined-space demands of batting cage use that the heavier-gauge BRUTE Sock-Screen (NB187) is built to handle.

At 30.90 lbs the NB177 is substantially lighter than the BRUTE Sock-Screen at 51.70 lbs, making it more manageable for a single coach to transport, set up, and break down between field locations during a practice session while still delivering the ball collection convenience that keeps on-field drills flowing uninterrupted.

This product comes with a 1 Year Manufacturer Warranty.

    FAQ

How does the NB177 Sock-Style Screen differ from the BRUTE Sock-Screen (NB187)? Both screens feature a 54-inch sock for ball collection that opens to dump into a bucket or bag. The NB177 uses an 18-gauge steel frame and 45-ply net weighing 30.90 lbs and is designed for on-field practice only. The BRUTE Sock-Screen uses a heavier 13.5-gauge frame and 60-ply net weighing 51.70 lbs and is rated for batting cage use in addition to field practice. Choose the NB177 for on-field practice where lighter weight and easier transport are priorities.

Can the NB177 be used in a batting cage? No. This screen is specifically not intended for use in a batting cage. It is designed for on-field practice sessions. For batting cage sock screen use, see the BRUTE Sock-Screen (NB187).

How does the ball collection sock work? The 54-inch sock catches batted and thrown balls and funnels them into a deep collection pocket, so balls do not scatter across the field after contact. The sock then opens to allow the collected balls to be dumped directly into a bucket or ball bag for fast, convenient cleanup between sets.
