The Easton GAMETIME Youth Catcher's Leg Guards (GMETMELGY) are NOCSAE-certified youth baseball leg guards built for young catchers ages 9 to 12 who want reliable lower-body protection, a wide blocking surface, and all-day breathability behind the plate in a size designed specifically for smaller frames. The durable, reinforced wide-knee design gives your player better fit and more stability when moving in and out of the catcher's squat, while the vented shell with an EVAIR breathable EVA foam liner keeps their legs cool and comfortable through every inning of every game. Available at SPC Sports in three colorways -- black, red, and royal.

The reinforced wide-knee design provides better fit and more stability when moving in and out of the catcher's squat, and gives your player a larger blocking surface in the ready position so they cover more area on every ball that comes their way in the dirt.

The double-knee design is sized and engineered specifically for youth frames, delivering two layers of protection at the most vulnerable contact point on the lower leg and giving smaller players the right amount of coverage without the bulk or weight of the adult triple-knee design.

Stitched knee padding adds a layer of comfort directly at the knee contact point, so the guards feel more natural and comfortable during extended catching sessions without the stiffness or pressure that harder plastic-only knee designs can create.

The vented shell design features strategically placed ventilation throughout the guard to increase airflow, while the EVAIR breathable EVA foam liner promotes heat dissipation inside the guard so your player's legs stay cooler and more comfortable through long games and hot summer tournament days.

The 14-inch youth length covers your player's leg from knee to ankle in the right amount for catchers ages 9 to 12, giving young players complete lower-body coverage in a guard that fits the way serious youth catching gear should without being oversized or awkward to move in.

The lightweight construction moves naturally with your player's body through every crouching position and pop-up, so the guards never feel heavy, stiff, or restrictive for younger players who are still developing their strength and mechanics behind the plate.

This product comes with a 1 Year Manufacturer Warranty.

    FAQ

What size and age are the GMETMELGY designed for? The youth size is 14 inches, measured from the center of the knee to the bottom of the shin, and is designed for catchers ages 9 to 12.

How does the youth model differ from the adult and intermediate? The youth model features a double-knee design instead of triple-knee and does not include a toe extension, making it specifically sized and built for smaller frames and younger players behind the plate.

What makes the wide-knee design better for young catchers? The wider knee plate provides a larger blocking surface and better stability moving in and out of the squat, helping young catchers develop proper blocking mechanics and cover more area on balls in the dirt.

FAQs

  • Double-knit polyester with a dirt-resistant finish is the standard across all levels of organized play. It holds its shape through repeated sliding, dries quickly after contact with wet grass or infield mud, and resists abrasion from clay infields better than single-knit or cotton blends.

  • Open-hem refers to the hem style at the ankle (an open finished hem that falls over the top of the cleat), not the fabric pattern. Pinstripe is a color pattern with thin vertical stripes on the fabric. Both are available in most youth and adult sizing. Whether your team uses plain or pinstripe is typically a team-level decision.

  • Sizing varies by brand. Champro pants tend to run slightly loose in the waist. Mizuno adult pants tend to be longer in the inseam than average. Check each brand's size chart using waist and inseam measurements, especially for team orders where fit exchanges are complicated.

  • A full-length pant falls over the top of the cleat in a traditional modern style. A knicker pant ends below the knee and is worn with stirrup socks showing the traditional striped look. Knickers were the standard style in baseball through most of the twentieth century. Both are legal in all leagues. Style preference is typically team-mandated.

  • Most baseball warm-up jackets use a woven polyester shell with a lightweight bonded fleece or mesh lining. The shell provides wind resistance and some water repellency. The lining provides warmth without bulk. Look for a design with raglan sleeves or articulated underarm panels for full throwing range of motion.

  • Most leagues allow jackets in the dugout and during warm-ups. Players are typically not permitted to wear jackets in the field or at bat during game action. A long-sleeve performance undershirt visible at the wrist is the most common cold-weather solution during the actual game.

  • Yes. Our custom uniform builder handles jerseys and pants in custom colors with team names, numbers, and logos. Stock apparel in the catalog comes in standard team colors as shown in the product listing. For individual players who need a specific color not available in stock, the custom program is required.

  • A performance base layer is a moisture-wicking compression or fitted shirt worn beneath the game jersey. It manages sweat, provides light muscle support, and in cold weather adds warmth without restricting movement. Most baseball players at the competitive level wear a base layer under the game jersey year-round.

  • Pre-treat the stain immediately with a spray stain remover or liquid dish soap. Machine wash in cold water on a normal cycle. Avoid hot water and high-heat drying, as heat sets stains permanently and causes polyester to shrink. Line dry or tumble dry on low. Clay stains from red dirt infields are the hardest to remove and may require multiple pre-treatment applications.

  • Batting practice (BP) jerseys are lighter, looser jerseys worn during warm-ups and pre-game hitting sessions. They preserve the condition of game jerseys and often feature a different design or color scheme. Many teams have dedicated BP jerseys as part of their full uniform program.

  • A sublimated jersey dyes the design directly into the fabric permanently during manufacturing. It does not crack or peel. Tackle twill sews cut fabric numbers and letters onto the base jersey and has a raised, traditional texture. Sublimated is now more common for recreational and travel teams due to lower minimum order requirements and more design flexibility.

  • Yes. Fitted caps require an accurate head circumference for a proper fit. Adjustable caps use a velcro, snap-back, or stretch-fit closure that accommodates a range of head sizes. For team orders where measuring every player's head is impractical, adjustable caps reduce the risk of size errors.

  • A compression undershirt is a form-fitting moisture-wicking base layer worn under the jersey. It keeps moisture off the skin, provides light muscle support, and adds a layer of warmth in cold weather. Short-sleeve, three-quarter sleeve, and long-sleeve versions are available. Many players wear the three-quarter sleeve under a short-sleeve jersey to show the undershirt at the wrist, which is a common aesthetic in baseball at all levels.

  • Yes. Most youth baseball pants designed for game use include double-knee reinforcement or reinforced sliding patches. This is one of the most important features to look for in youth pants, as younger players slide more frequently and on more varied surface conditions than older players who choose their sliding moments more selectively.

  • Machine wash in cold water on a gentle or normal cycle. Turn jerseys and pants inside out to protect printed graphics and numbers. Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach on colored fabrics. Tumble dry on low or line dry. High heat shrinks polyester and can cause tackle twill numbers to peel. Following these steps consistently will significantly extend the life of any baseball apparel.
